I know how it feels when starting out as a photographer and struggling to overcome shyness. Here’s the truth, we will always meet people we’ll be shy of or people who will make us question our confidence, but this can end.

To become confident is not to become arrogant. It starts with being great at your craft. When I just started out in photography and I was a second shooter at an event. And the guy I followed told me to cover a section. I got to a table with people and my hands were shaking!

Why? Because I did not believe in myself. I did not believe I could deliver. If you are not competent, you will know and this feeling will never leave you. Shyness is easily a product of incompetence.

I’ve not seen a photographer who can deliver great photos and is still shy. Shyness is not your problem, competence and the lack of belief in yourself is the problem. Don’t let anyone question your competence if you can deliver.

And it doesn’t matter, bro/sis, there are times you’ll feel your confidence has been taken from you. Be brave. Dress for the occasion. Be great at your craft, now produce results!

Tap on this link to have access to my books on photography and creativity. Currently, I’m working on a new book in marketing in photography. I’ve got a good feeling this will help 100s of photographers!
